HDFC FASTag: Online Recharge and Application Process, Charges and Features of HDFC Bank FASTag

A FASTag is a reloadable tag working on the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology that has been mandated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to be used by all vehicles, whether private or commercial, across all toll plazas in the country. The idea behind FASTag is to make toll payments simpler, cashless and a time-saving process. HDFC bank is one of the 22 banks that have been authorised in India to issue FASTags. Read on to know how you can obtain a FASTag from HDFC, how to recharge the tag and the benefits associated with it.

HDFC Bank FASTag and its Working

Ever since FASTag became mandatory in the country, HDFC has been one of the authorised sellers of FASTag. The HDFC FASTag is a rectangular tag that is affixed to the windscreen of your vehicle, with a prepaid account linked to it. The tag functions on the RFID technology, wherein as soon as the vehicle with the FASTag comes in appropriate vicinity of the tag reader, the stipulated toll tax is deducted from the prepaid FASTag account of the tag holder.

With HDFC FASTag, cash transactions at toll plazas has become a thing of the past. You can end up saving valuable time by avoiding long queues at toll plazas, and save fuel and money with seamless cashless toll tax deductions. The Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), in partnership with HDFC bank launched the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) program, and thus the HDFC FASTag was introduced. The tag issued by HDFC is accepted across all toll plazas and highways in the country.
