SBI FASTag: Application and Online Recharge Process, Charges and Features of SBI FASTag
To avoid the hassle of long queues and to have a centralised toll collection facility, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has made FASTag mandatory for all vehicles across the country. Out of the 22 banks which have been commissioned to provide FASTags, the State Bank of India (SBI) is one of the major providers of FASTag. Learn more about the SBI FASTag, its features and how to apply for a FASTag via SBI.
What is SBI FASTag and How Does it Work?
The SBI FASTag is a 10 x 5 cm, rectangular shaped tag that is affixed on the windscreen of your vehicle. The tag, utilising the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, enables you to pay your toll tax at toll plazas directly via prepaid methods and online wallets. The SBI FASTag ensures that no time is wasted at toll plazas for carrying out manual cash transactions.
The FASTag has a chip and an antenna inside its layers which allows transfer of information at toll plazas by employing the RFID technology. As soon as the tag is read, the appropriate amount is deducted from the prepaid account or wallet linked to the FASTag. You can then recharge the tag as per your requirement. Under the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) program, you can use SBI FASTag at all toll plazas situated in India.
SBI FASTag helps you save time, money and fuel at toll plazas, all the while making cashless transactions a seamless experience. As of now, the SBI FASTag is operational at more than 340 toll plazas across national highways in the country, with more toll plazas being accumulated under the NETC program.
