Rajasthan HSRP: High-Security Number Plate Online Registration in Rajasthan

HSRP is an aluminium-based “high-security registration plate” that comes with two non-reusable locks. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has made it mandatory for all two-wheelers and four-wheelers sold before 1 April 2019 to have High-Security Number Plates fixed to their vehicles. This rule has to be followed in all the states including Rajasthan.

HSRP Rajasthan Specification & Features

A High-Security Registration Plate aka HSRP has been made mandatory by the Government in India. Here are some of the specifications and features of HSRP:

  • Retro Reflective Sheet (RRS)
RRS is used in HSRP that helps to enhance nighttime visibility. HSRP is made using a high-grade RRS that helps in increasing visibility from a distance of over 200 metres.
  • Chromium Based Hologram
Holograms serve as a security feature in products. It is hot-stamped at a high temperature so that nobody can remove or tamper it.
  • Hot Stamped Film with Security Inscript
The letters and numerals are hot stamped on the HSRP to further enhance the security aspect as fake registration plates will not have this inscription.
  • Laser-etched Alpha Numeric Code
On the left corner of HSRP, there is a laser alphanumeric code. This 9 digit code is unique to a plate and links the vehicle owner details with the central database.
  • Third License Plate sticker (TLP)
Apart from HSRP on the front and rear of the vehicle, a third licence plate sticker is fixed on the left corner of the windshield of vehicles. This sticker provides details such as registration number and front/rear LID numbers, etc.
  • Snap Lock
Snap Lock is a high-security lock which once fastened, can not be removed or reused. The use of snap locks is only restricted to the rear side of the vehicle.

Advantages of HSRP & Colour Coded Stickers

Below are the key benefits of having an HSRP and colour-coded stickers for your vehicle:

  • HSRPs are tamper-proof as they come with two non-removable snap-on locks that are difficult to replace.
  • The stolen vehicle can be tracked easily as the thief would not be able to change the registration plate.
  • The high-security registration plates are issued only after the vehicle owner provides information including engine number and chassis number. All the information gets stored in a centralized database and helps the authority to identify the vehicle owner in case of a stolen vehicle.
  • Moreover, people used to opt for various fonts and styles for their registration plates which made it difficult for traffic police to read the number mentioned on the plate, however, HSRPs follow a uniform pattern and therefore addresses this problem.
Colour-coded stickers, also known as a third registration plate indicate the vehicle’s fuel type.
  • Colour-coded stickers contain information such as the registration number of the vehicle and the name of registering authority.
