A Driving Licence is a crucial document that you are supposed to carry along with yourself while driving a vehicle on roads. Your driving licence displays your personal information such as name, address, date of birth, etc. If you have relocated permanently, it is important to change the address on your DL. This is because many times, a driving licence serves as an address proof too. Thus, if you have shifted to a new location, you must change the address on all your documents including your DL. How to Change Address on Driving Licence?
If you want to change your address on your driving licence, you need to submit an application form along with relevant documents to the respective RTO. You can either submit your application online or offline as per your convenience. For offline mode, you need to visit the RTO to complete the formalities and for online mode of application, you can make use of Parivahan website. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to change the address on your driving licence online:
- Open the online portal, click here
- Select your state name
- You will be redirected to a new page
- Select “DL Services” from the options
- Proceed further and click on Continue
- A new page will appear, enter the required information including your driving licence number, DOB, state, RTO, Pincode, etc
- Click on Proceed and your complete DL details will appear on the page
- Verify the details and press Confirm tab
- A list will appear, select “Change of Address in DL” from it
- Enter the new address, captcha code and submit it
- An application number will be generated, you can save it
- Next, upload the copy of your driving licence and an address proof
- Upload the required documents such as age proof, self-declaration form
- Upload your photograph and signature
- Book the time slot and proceed to pay the fee
Documents Required to Change Address on Driving Licence
For both online and offline mode of application to change the address on the driving licence, you are required to submit relevant documents to the concerned RTO. Earlier a NOC was required from the previous RTO to change the address, however, the government has recently revised the guidelines and it is not required anymore. The other documents that you are supposed to submit while applying for change of address are:
- Address Proof
- Age Proof
- Form no 1 or self-declaration form
- Form no 7 or an application for smart card
- Copy of Driving Licence
- Passport-sized photograph
Fee For Address Change On Driving Licence
To change your address on the Driving Licence, you need to submit Rs 500 as an application fee. The fee is charged irrespective of the application mode. If you are applying offline, you can submit the payment to the RTO and if you are applying through an online portal, then you can submit the payment online itself.
