RTO Form 16: Form of Application for Grant or Renewal of Trade Certificate To The Registering Authority

A trade certificate received from the registering authority permits a dealer to be exempt from registering the motor vehicle he or she owns, yet the dealer cannot sell a motor vehicle to another purchaser unless the vehicle is temporarily or permanently registered. A trade certificate must be obtained and kept valid. This can be done by submitting Form 16 to the RTO.

If your trade certificate is genuine and is stolen or lost, you must register a complaint and obtain a copy of the FIR from the local police station. This FIR is required to apply for a duplicate trade certificate. A police report is not required in the case of a damaged or toned trade certificate. The certificate’s damaged remains are sufficient and must be supplied at the time of application.
