Rto offices mob

Under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), every state and union territory in India has to have a Regional Transport Office (RTO) or a Regional Transport Authority (RTA), which is a subsidiary of the Motor Vehicles Department. To regulate motor vehicles and traffic laws in India, there are certain set of rules and responsibilities mentioned in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, that the RTO is responsible for. The RTO in Rajasthan was established as per section 213(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, which states that “The State Government may, for the purpose of carrying into effect the provisions of the Act, establish a Motor Vehicles Department and appoint as officers thereof such persons as it thinks fit.” As per the Motor Vehicles Act, the primary purpose of an RTO is to maintain and update the database of all motor vehicles that are registered in the city, state or union territory that the RTO belongs to. Along with that, the RTO is also responsible for ensuring that all rules and regulations mentioned in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 are complied with. The Rajasthan RTO is headed by the Transport Commissioner, and has the duty to issue driving licences, register motor vehicles, issue vehicle, travel and tourist permits, collect road tax and fines and keep a keen eye on the vehicle pollution levels.
