RTO Form 30: Report of Transfer of Ownership of a Motor Vehicle
When selling a car, owners must complete RTO Form 30. Following your application to transfer ownership of the four-wheeler to the concerned RTO, you must immediately report to the native RTO to complete the necessary paperwork for the transfer of ownership. As a result, Form 30 might be considered a confirmation of Form 29. Candidates must submit an application for this document within 14 days of selling their car. Form 30 assures that the new owner is responsible for all legal obligations associated with the vehicle. It also demonstrates that the buyer has received the original owner’s Certificate of Registration and Certificate of Insurance.

How to fill RTO Form 30?
RTO Form 30 is divided into four sections. The first section provides information on the transferor, the second section contains information about the transferee, the third section is the Financier’s agreement to the transfer of ownership, and the fourth section is an official endorsement. A step-by-step guide to completing out Form 30 is provided below.
- Begin by providing the name of the Registering Authority on RTO Form 30.
- Mention the applicant’s name, father’s name, and entire address as listed on the address proof enclosed with the application in part 1 (which is for the transferor’s use). In this section, married Indian women can additionally write their husband’s name.
- Indicate the date and year that you sold your vehicle in the following box.
- Now type in the registration number of the car you sold to the transferee. After that, write the buyer’s name, father’s name, and address.
- In addition, the transferor certifies that he has given the buyer the Registration Certificate (RC) and the Certificate of Insurance. He also claims that the authority has never suspended or terminated the RC. Even the “No Objection Certificate” issued from the Registering Authority is enclosed by the transferor.
- The transferor affixes his signature or thumb impression together with the date to the closing paragraph of Part 1 of Form 30.
- Part 2 of Form 30 is for the transferee’s use. Begin by filling out this part with the buyer’s name, father’s name, age, and complete address. Married Indian women can fill in this space with their husband’s name, just as they did in the preceding section.
- In the following box, write the date and year that you bought the vehicle. Now type in the vehicle’s registration number.
- Finally, write the seller’s full name and address. Attach the transferee’s signature or thumb impression, as well as the date, to this area.
- If the car is under a hire-purchase, lease, or hypothecation agreement, the Financier signs a document expressing his assent to the transfer of ownership. In this part, you must also include the Financier’s full name and address, as well as the date.
- The formal endorsement is the last section of Form 30. The representative of the Registering Authority states the reference number, the name of the RTO, and the effective date of the transfer of ownership. The RTO employee also adds his signature and date, as well as the Financier’s name. The Financier receives a copy of this document by registered mail.
- The registered owner’s signature or thumb impression, as well as the Financier’s signature, are required to complete the application.
