List of States That had Implemented Indian Traffic Rules and Fines 2019
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had announced the new guidelines related to traffic rules and fines as per the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act. According to this, the fines have been revised for the traffic violations and the same has been implemented in many states across the country from September 2019. The states that have completely implemented the revised traffic rules and fines are:
- Assam
- Punjab
- Sikkim
- Jharkhand
- Maharashtra
- Odisha
- New Delhi
List of States That Does Not Implement Indian Traffic Rules and Fines 2019
There are some states that completely disagreed with the revised fines on the grounds of being more considerate of the common man as increased fine rates can become a burden for them. These are the states that have opposed the increased fines and have not yet implemented Indian Traffic Rules and Fines 2019:
- Maharashtra
- Jharkhand
- Rajasthan
- Madhya Pradesh
- West Bengal
- Telangana
Besides this, some of the states implemented the new fines in September 2019, however, relaxed the fines later on. These states include Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Goa, Odisha and Haryana. All of them decided to bring down the traffic fines rates for some of the traffic violations even after implementing the new traffic rules.
Traffic Fines Checking: How to Check Traffic Fines Online For Your Vehicle
If you have been caught violating a traffic rule, you are liable to pay traffic fines for it as the traffic police will issue a challan against your name. Here are the steps by which you can check the traffic fines or challans online for your vehicle:
Step 1: Visit Parivahan Portal
Step 2: Click on the ‘Check Challan Status’ tab on the homepage
Step 3: A new page will open where you need to enter either your DL number or vehicle number
Step 4: In case, there’s no fine and e-challan against you, a Challan Not Found’ dialogue box will open
Step 5: If there’s a pending traffic fine against your name, then a page will open that will show you all the details about it

Online Traffic Fine Payment: How to Pay Traffic Police Fines Online
From parking your vehicle in an unapproved place to jumping the red light and crossing the maximum speed limit to committing any other traffic offence, all of them are traffic violations for which a person is liable to pay a fine. There’s a grace period of 60 days within which a person is expected to submit the traffic fines. It is always a good idea to pay the fine as soon as possible to avoid any legal actions. Step 2: Enter your challan number, vehicle number, or DL number on the page
Step 3: Add the Captcha code and click on the ‘Get Detail’ tab
Step 4: A new page will open where you can get every detail about the traffic fines
Step 5: Click on ‘Pay Now’ under the Payment column and proceed further
Step 6: Choose the mode of payment from the given options. You can pay through net banking, credit card, or debit card
Step 7: Once the payment is received, a confirmation message will be sent to the registered mobile number
