To provide assistance during the nationwide lockdown, the Delhi Government announced its decision to include e-rickshaw owners under its scheme of providing one-time monetary aid of Rs. 5,000 to para-transit vehicle operators. The decision came through on Monday, after a cabinet meeting of the Delhi government, chaired by the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

As per a statement by the governement, “The Cabinet today approved to extend the scheme to every permit holder of para-transit vehicle in Delhi as well as owners of e-rickshaws registered in Delhi.”. Para-transit vehicles include autos, taxis, Gramin Sewa, Eco Sewa and Phatphat Sewa vehicles.
The extension of this scheme will be beneficial for more than 60,000 permit holders of para-transit vehicles, along with e-rickshaw owners that are registered in Delhi.
Commenting on the same, Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “We are giving Rs 5,000 to the PSV (public service vehicle) badge holding drivers in Delhi during the lockdown. We got information that thousands of e-rickshaw drivers do not have PSV badges. The cabinet decided today to provide Rs 5,000 assistance amount to all such e-rickshaw owners.”
The terms of the existing scheme dictate that every para-transit vehicle driver, that has a PSV badge, will be eligible to get one-time monetary aid of Rs. 5,000. Arvind Kejriwal was lauded for his decision by the Delhi Transport minister, Kailash Gahlot, in a tweet, where he thanked the CM and said that he was hopeful that e-rickshaw owners will now get financial relief during these tough times.
