In the fight against COVID-19, the state of Kerala has been proactive in containing the virus. Adding on to its mission, the district administration has instructed truck drivers that are returning to Wayanad from other states to follow safe distancing protocols and limit public interactions as much as possible.

This move comes after a truck driver tested Corona positive after returning from Chennai to Wayanad on Saturday. As per the rules laid down, Dr. Adeela Abdulla, District Collector, said that truck drivers are to be screened and checked at the Muthanga border checkpoint.
The district administration is also exploring the possibility of allowing truck drivers to proceed to their houses from Muthanga while other drivers can take the cargo to the destinations. Truck owners should ensure vehicle facility for the drivers to go home, along with additional drivers. A final decision in this regard will be taken after a meeting of lorry owners to be held at the collectorate on Monday.
