How to link a mobile number to your vehicle number in Maharashtra?

A single mobile number can be linked to a maximum of 5 vehicles. To prevent expensive challans/e-challans, you can link it by following the simple steps below:

Step 1: Visit Parivahan website, https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/

Step 2: In the upper right corner, click the Register link.

Step 3: Fill in your full name, email address, and phone number, then choose the state of from the drop-down menu, enter the captcha code, and click Register.

Step 4: The OTP will be sent to your mobile number, and an email with a confirmation link will be sent to your email address. To validate your email address, click the link, then enter the OTP (sent via email and mobile) in the following screen and submit it.

Step 5: Create your password on the next screen. When the message “Password (new) has been created” appears, click the Login link in the upper right corner.

Step 6: To access the Vahan Parivahan website, enter your user name (email) and password (created lately).

Step 7: Navigate to Other Services >> Change your phone number

Step 8: To update, provide the car registration number, the last 5 digits of the chassis number, the last 5 digits of the engine number, and a new mobile number.

Step 9: Click Generate OTP, enter your OTP on the following box, and click Submit.

Traffic rules to follow in Maharashtra for safe driving

For 2 Wheelers:

• Helmets must be worn at all times. Never stop abruptly in traffic. Helmets should be ISI marked and properly buckled. Slow down and move to the left.
• Allow pedestrians to cross roadways at unmanned / signalled Zebra crossings by stopping or slowing down your vehicle.
• Observe all traffic lights, signs, and boards.
• Always have your driver’s license and other necessary paperwork with you while driving.
• Children should not be forced to sit on gasoline tanks or stand in front of the rider.
• Allow enough room when passing a stationary vehicle for the automobile doors to open unexpectedly.

• Drive within the posted speed restrictions.
• Maintain vehicle’s fitness. A vehicle breakdown while on the road can be inconvenient not only for you, but also for other road users and traffic officials.
• Allow pedestrians to cross roadways at unmanned / signalled Zebra crossings by stopping or slowing down your vehicle.
• When driving four-wheelers, always buckle up.
• Avoid rash or careless driving.
• It is not a good idea to drink and drive. Using a cell phone while driving might result in death. Even when stopping at signals, it is not a good idea to converse on your phone.
• Before stopping, turn on your brake lights so that vehicles behind you don’t collide.
