The CV manufacturer on Wednesday confirmed that the company has received permission from government authorities and will be resuming operations at three of its plants at Alwar, Bhandara and Pantnagar.

As per the revised guidelines for the extended lockdown, the government had laid down several relaxations, including allowing industrial units situated at rural areas to proceed with partial operations from April 20, while maintaining all the necessary health and hygiene protocols.
In a statement, NV Balachandar, President, HR, Communication and CSR, Ashok Leyland, said, “We are currently working out the supply chain readiness post which we will resume operations and commence production in line with demand.”
Vipin Sondhi, Managing Director & CEO, Ashok Leyland emphasised that logistics and transportation are the backbone of the economy, and in these challenging times, vehicles need to be running to transport essentials.
He went on to note that there are many ways in which the government can simplify the lives of truck drivers during these times. According to him, this can be achieved by providing minimum wages, ensuring insurance and regulating and mandating the working conditions for them through cabin regulation.
